What A Week!
I hope you got to witness the beauty and majesty of the Blood Super Moon, even if it makes things a little wonky. I found these interesting Super Moon facts
  1. Perigee Syzygy: The term "supermoon" refers to a full moon that occurs when the moon is at perigee, its closest point to Earth, but the scientific term is "perigee syzygy."
  2. Lunar Illusion: When a supermoon rises near the horizon, it can appear much larger than when it’s high in the sky. This optical illusion tricks our brains into perceiving it as gigantic!
  3. Not All Equal: Not every supermoon looks the same; some can appear significantly larger or brighter than others, depending on the moon’s exact distance from Earth.
  4. Frequency: Supermoons occur several times a year, but they are not equally spaced out, and their impact varies based on the moon's elliptical orbit.
  5. Historical Significance: Ancient cultures often used supermoons to mark the changing seasons, influencing agricultural practices and festivals.
  6. Supermoon and Tides: Supermoons can lead to higher-than-normal tides, known as "king tides," which can impact coastal ecosystems and lead to flooding in vulnerable areas.
  7. Skywatching Parties: Supermoons often lead to organized skywatching events, drawing large crowds and fostering community engagement in astronomy.
  8. Emotional Effects: Some studies suggest that full moons, including supermoons, can influence human behavior, leading to increased reports of unusual or erratic behavior, though the science is debated.
  9. Wildlife Behavior: Some animals, such as sea turtles and certain bird species, are known to change their behaviors during supermoons, often affecting their mating and feeding patterns.
  10. Photography Challenges: Capturing the perfect supermoon photograph can be tricky; photographers often use special techniques, such as long exposures or zoom lenses, to get the desired effect.

Note from Ms. Kimble
We are a month into school and the start of school has been great! We are beyond impressed with the students engagement in their learning, being on time to school, and keeping their phones and air pods away. Is it perfect, no, but have we made a tremendous amount of progress, YES! We thank you for your support.

As we settle into the school year I want to remind everyone of the inclusion statement we rolled out; our goal this year for every student and staff to feel welcome and that they belong at TMHS. We will do that by demonstrating The Miner Way of respect, responsibility and integrity. If you can continue to reiterate that in the community it helps in school.
