Starting in 2021, the Telluride R-1 School District Board of Education committed to following a Policy Governance structure based on the model policies provided by the Colorado Association of School Boards. This governance structure defines the following:

• The roles and responsibilities of the Board are defined through Governance Process policies (GP-1 through GP-14)
• The roles and responsibilities of the Superintendent are defined through Executive Limitations policies (EL-1 through EL-17)
• The relationship between the Board and the Superintendent is defined by Board/Superintendent Relationship policies (B/SR-1 through B/SR-6)
• The desired outcomes, or “Ends,” that we desire for the students and the system to achieve are defined by the Ends policies (E-1 through E-4)
