Telluride School District strives to serve freshly prepared scratch-made meals at breakfast and lunch each day with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables, locally sourced when possible while adhering to USDA nutritional requirements.
Telluride District Preschool, Elementary, and Intermediate School students are served breakfast upon request in the cafeteria before school.
Telluride Middle and High School students are offered breakfast during morning break, allowing them to select and decline some foods offered at each meal. Offer versus Serve helps reduce food waste and allows students to take foods that meet their preferences and hunger levels. For breakfast, students may select from grains, fruit, and milk. The District often provides a protein option as well, and students must select at least ½ cup of fruits and/or vegetables and at least two other food items or components for their free meal. Students may also select all food items offered for the meal.
